A four year exploration trying to solve the mystery of the Christian Herald Orphanage. The American Colony in Jerusalem ran an orphanage for girls from 1918 until 1923. Displaced by WWI, with fathers who never returned from the war, these girls found their lives turned upside down. In the American Colony archive is incredible photographic documentation of the few years in which they ran this orphanage. Through textile works, an artist book and etchings, I have tried to piece together the experience of these girls. Until today, the fate of the building and the girls is unknown.
