In 2017, the Israeli Rabbanut listed 6386 Israelis on their secret Black List. These are citizens, who, for reasons of religious status, the Rabbis do not recognize as being Jewish, and thus refuse to marry. Altho ordered by the courts to inform those citizens on the list of their status, to date the list remains secret and no one knows who is on it. Another “Black List” surfaced in the summer of 2017 that contains names of Rabbis around the world whose conversions the Israeli Rabbanut does not recognize. This installation is a way of creating awareness as well as a form of artistic protest for this invasion of privacy. It is a featured installation at the Jewish Museum Vienna’s exhibition “100 Jews, 100 Misunderstanding” 2023
