Jewish women of the Shtetl had vital roles in their communities. Many of these women have been forgotten. Inspired by an essay that Annabel Gottfried Cohen has written for the Jewish Women’s Archive, these eight amazing women have been remembered in this hand printed, hand made artist’s book. From the “Feldmesterin” (grave measurer) to the midwife, each linocut is in a handmade folio with an accompanying text.
