Nashkevillin is a project created by artists/curators Andi Arnovitz (Israel) and Corneila Renz ( Berlin) for the 2021 Krakow Jewish festival. Based on the historic precedent of Yiddish broadsides “Pashkevillin” or German political proclamations “Flugschriften,” we invited seven other feminist-artist-printmakers to create posters that were then plastered on the walls and streets of Krakow during the festival. The focus of these political proclamations was to highlight contemporary feminist issues, ranging from the impact of Covid on women, to the rise of far-right movements in Israel, Germany and Poland, to the repressive abortion laws recently enacted in Poland. Participating artists: In Israel: (Andi Arnovitz) Hila Lulu Lin Farah Kufer Birim, Nomi Tannhauser, in Germany: (Cornelia Renz) Angela Hampel, Tanja Seltzer and in Poland: Iwona Demko, Joanna Pawlik and Malwina Niespodziewana. Thanks to the festival curators: Yael Sherill, Lianne Mol & Julia Kawka – Curatorial Collective for Public Art, Berlin and Meydad Eliyahu – curator, HaMiffal art center, Jerusalem : Pawel Kowalewski – programme manager, Jewish Culture Festival, Krakow
